Retrofuturistic sounds from the French Rio de Janeiro that almost was...

As curator, I am always looking for daring, risky productions that sound amazing against all odds, whether through naïvety, lack of resources or just plain art-school stubborness. When Cassius Augusto (the mind behind it all) introduced me to the tobacco addicted French persona, I noticed he condensed all these baphyphynesque qualities in his work.
Cassius A. defines Jacques Default as "Synthpop hip hop, soundtrack of FZERO final stage and the Aztec phase from Donkey Kong. Videogame music, retrofuturistic overdose." I can hear all of that, and more!
I absolutely adore the cheesy, Lite FM, jazzy loungy synth loops with the modern-ish sound of the Roland TR-8. They send me back to The Weather Channel and long car trips in the 90's, and also connect me to current times. We are living right in the future that never was, the future we dreamed of in the 90's that never came. We miss the future. Jacques misses the future and sends us this message, only properly expressed in the Portuguese language: "Saudade do Futuro".
Let's navigate through these mysterious times, when nothing can really be taken too seriously, especially musical masterpieces like these.
